William Spencer, Chief Executive Officer, President and Founder
William Spencer formed the Spencer Organization, Inc. in 1970. Mr. Spencer, an Enrolled Actuary, led in the development of the first microcomputer based software solutions for actuaries and consultants. He served as a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Pension Actuaries and American Academy of Actuaries; was a member of the Actuarial Standards Board Committee and served as President of the American Society of Pension Actuaries in 1977.
In 1989 the company, working very closely with AT&T Bell Labratories, shifted its focus to developing and supporting physical network and cable management software solutions.
Eventually the company name was changed to Planet Associates and Mr. Spencer served as Chief Architect for the next generation of Planet's software, which addressed Critical Infrastructure Protection (Inside Plant, Outside Plant, Circuits, Disaster Recovery, Security, Wide Area Networks, Data Centers, Space, Change and IT Asset Management). Mr. Spencer has and continues to frequently speak and write articles about critical infrastructure and physical network management.
Mr. Spencer received a Bachelor of Science cum laude from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Fred Schlossberg, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Schlossberg has served as CFO at Planet Associates since March 1999.
Previously he served as Vice President Finance & Administration, Secretary and a Director of Computer Generated Solutions, Inc. ("CGS") from April 1992 to February 1999. As Chief Financial Officer, CGS experienced rapid revenue growth from $5 million in 1992 to $125 million in 1998 with the implementation of controls to manage expansion. His responsibilities also included preparing CGS for initial public offering and acting as liaison with underwriters and SEC counsel.
From June 1978 to April 1992, he was employed by BDO Seidman, LLP where he was a Senior Audit Manager.
Mr. Schlossberg is a Certified Public Accountant (1985) in New York State. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting (1978) from Bernard Baruch College, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Satish Thatte, Vice President, Engineering and Product Delivery
As Vice President of Engineering and Product Delivery at Planet Associates, Dr. Thatte manages the product development, intellectual property development, quality assurance, and product delivery and support efforts for the Planet IRM software suite.
Dr. Thatte's varied background includes positions with the Corporate R&D Center of Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX, where he was responsible for R&D project management and technology transfer to TI product groups; Director of Internet Information Management Products at Bellcore (now Telcordia) in Piscataway, NJ; product management of several product lines at Triveni Digital (a wholly-owned subsidiary of LG Electronics) in Princeton, NJ; Vice President of Enterprise Solutions at The Digital Group in Princeton, NJ; and, Vice President of Engineering at Connotate Technologies in New Brunswick, NJ.
Dr. Thatte received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, IL. He has been awarded 14 patents (13 U.S. and one International), is a Senior Member of the IEEE and a Member of the ACM.
John Robert (Jack) Wood, Jr, Vice President, Public Sector Programs
Mr. Wood is responsible for delivery of Planet Associates professional services within the Federal Government sector. He comes to this position from a background of leadership in both government and industry technology-related operations and support.
Jack initially served as a Naval Flight Officer and Information Technology specialist in the U.S. Navy and later commanded the Navy's largest industrially-funded datacenter. He was a leader in the transition of the Navy to commercial off-the-shelf computer technology throughout the 1980's and 1990's. Most notably, he was project leader of the "Copernicus Architecture" team, which developed Navy's strategy for modernizing to digital communications and merging computer processing & communications in Navy's business and tactical environments.
Since moving to industry, Jack has performed as Information Systems Architect of Global Associates, as Chief Information Officer of ManTech International Corporation, and as a Program Manager within the Command Communications Survivability Program (CCSP) prior to joining Planet Associates.
Jack graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a major in History. He holds a Masters Degree in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School, and a Masters Degree in International Relations from Salve Regina College. He graduated with distinction from the Naval War College.
Tristen Yancey, Vice President, Public Sector Sales
Ms. Yancey is responsible for growing federal government and system integrator sales. She brings experience in both direct government sales as well as system integrator alliances. Her previous employment includes Borland Software, Plumtree Software and Unisys Corporation.
Ms. Yancey's achievements include: closing enterprise federal agency contracts, teaming with systems integrators on large government programs, and expanding companies' relationships and sales with systems integrators. Due to her industry accomplishments, she was selected to the Industry Advisory Council's Partners Program in 2004.
Ms. Yancey earned an M.B.A. in International Business from American University, Washington, D.C. and a B.A. in International Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA.
